A safety app only works if you trust it completely. Here's how we earn that trust.
We built RUOK to keep you safe — not to monetize your data. We will never sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else. Your data exists for one reason: to protect you.
What we collect and why
Every piece of data we store has a clear purpose. If it doesn't help keep you safe, we don't collect it.
- Emergency contacts — names and phone numbers of people you choose to notify if you miss a check-in.
- Timers & check-ins — your timer settings and check-in history, so the service works the way you set it up.
- Location (only when you choose) — included in alerts only if you opt in, so your contacts can find you when it matters. We never track your location in the background.
Your data, your control
You're always in charge of your information. You can:
- View and update your personal data at any time
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Export your data if you want a copy
- Choose whether to include location in your alerts
How we keep it safe
Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, stored on secure cloud infrastructure, and accessible only to you and the service features you've configured. We follow security best practices including hashed passwords, token-based authentication, and automatic data cleanup — timer history is removed after 90 days.
